Carpe Diem is a Latin aphorism, usually translated "seize the day"

 The Horatian ode format and style has been emulated since by other poets.

 The Odes were developed as a conscious imitation of the short lyric poetry of Greek originals - Pindar, Sappho and Alcaeus are some of Horace's models

  1. narrative is a genre of poetry that tells a story. Narrative poetry may be the oldest type of poetry. for example,  Iliad and Odyssey
  2. lyric is a genre that, unlike epic and dramatic poetry, does not attempt to tell a story but instead is of a more personal nature.  it portrays the poet's own feelings, states of mind

stanza is  a section of a poem, marked by extra line spacing before and after, that often has a single pattern of meter and/or rhyme. 

   ballad stanza is a common stanza form, consisting of a quatrain that alternates four-foot and three-foot lines

   lines 1 and 3 are unrhymed iambic tetrameter and lines 2 and 4 are rhymed iambic trimester 

   Spenserian stanza is a stanza consisting of eight lines of iambic pentameter followed by a ninth line of iambic hexameter

   ottava rima is a verse form consisting of eight-line stanzas with an abababcc rhyme scheme and iambic meter (usually pentameter). 

   terza rima is a rhyming verse stanza form that consists of an interlocking three-line rhyme scheme. 

Richard Cory is a narrative poem written by Edwin Arlington Robinson. The poem describes a person who is wealthy, well educated, mannerly, and admired by the people in his town. Despite all this, he takes his own life.

Marianne Moore was an American Modernist poet, critic, translator, and editor. Her poetry is noted for formal innovation, precise diction, irony, and wit.

Her most famous poem is perhaps the one entitled, appropriately, "Poetry", in which she hopes for poets who can produce "imaginary gardens with real toads in them".
